An old faithful with a contemporary twist

Private residence, Istanbul, Turkey

The herringbone pattern, along with the chevron or Point de Hongrie, is probably the oldest parquet, with still-extant examples dating back to the mid-1500s. Herringbone floors may have been developed to mimic the herringbone decorative brickwork style that was common then. The owners of this Istanbul residence wanted a classic herringbone wooden floor, but with a modern edge. The solution: extra-small, no bevel, Parquet Basilica Herringbone, in Clark for that contemporary twist.
